Result: NewWaves won the match by 1 wicket (ScoreCard)
In the Second Match of the Season NewWaves pulled off a thrilling win over TrendSetters by just one wicket at the famous Frankford Cricket grounds
in Richardson in the last over. Chasing a modest 145 to win the game, NewWaves once again displayed a mediocre batting with the exception of Senior
player Anil Yerram and a good partnership with Manish, led the team to a thrilling win over TrendSetters with 4 balls to spare. Trendsetters displayed a
disciplined bowling and a good fielding in making NewWaves work for the win, chasing the lowest score of the season.
It was an extraordinary match; Kuljit Singh again won the toss (almost becoming a habit) and elected to bat. TrendSetters with their careless attitude,
and bad running between the wickets costed them 5 runouts and eventually the match. Trendsetters kept losing wickets at regular intervals, NewWaves
put the brakes with exceptional quality fielding through out the match. Vinod's runout with a great stop and a direct hit from Harish Baddam started a
flurry of runouts for TS. Senior star Madhu coming back from a long sabbatical saved the face for Trendsetters with well timed shots adding valuable runs
towards the end, to give TS a total of 145 in 34.2 overs, a mediocre score to defend given the batting line up of NewWaves. Instead of playing with a
cool head, NWs started their innings flickering and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. TS bowlers lived upto the expectations of their new Captain
Kuljit and displayed some outstanding bowling performance in recent times. TS bowlers were too hot to handle for NWs, yet with such a low score to
defend, TS bowlers had no choice but to bowl straight to the wicket and grab wickets rather than restricting batsmen from scoring. Partnership between
Manish and Zia, Zia and Anil Yerram helped NWs pull off this victory with one wicket to spare. Comeback senior Anil Yerram with his good form displayed
good character throughout his innings and has won the game for NWs. Needing 11 runs from two overs, 2 fours in the 34th over, took the game off of TS hands.
NWs captain Kuldeep expressed satisfaction over this morale boosting win, but empahasized that their Batting needs to be improved. He said 'we bowled
well, fielded exceptionally well, but our batting needs to be improved a lot, we need to get back to the basics and nets, hopefully, we bat better next
time'. Trendsetters's captain Kuljit singh expressed great satisfaction over his team's bowling and fielding. He however criticized their poor communication
and running between the wickets. He said 'my bowlers came good today, our fielding was good, we have set some standards for ourselves in bowling and
am happy to see the results. We need to get back to the nets and start practicing our running between the wickets'. He also expressed dissatisfaction on
players who set off for good scores, but couldn't convert them into partnerships and good scores. He said, it was a well-deserved win for NewWaves.
When pressed about captaincy issues that TS had, He said 'we have talked to all the players and decided on Captain and Vice-Captain, we are a fully committed
to our winning and I am glad, we have finally squared those issues away'. Both captains declined to comment on Senior players not showing up regularly,
both however said, we are glad to see new young players showing up regularly and putting in some good efforts.
Guys, Even though rain fall is very rare in the desert. rain does fall occasionally. People at deserts feel very happy looking at the rain and wish that to happen daily. But after a while they understand that it is only occasional. I don't want to make things explicit but I know people are intelligent enough to understand what it stands for. Wish FCC members take things supportively I am sorry if that is not the case. I am just trying to intensify the eagerness to WIN Which brings out great games like we had last time.
