What can I say about this match? From Yatin to Rajesh, two five wicket
hauls and a half-century. Well first things first. NewWaves won the toss but
were not able to make a decision whether to bat or bowl, first they choose to
bat, then want to bowl first, made a big fuss about it. As some of the NWs does
not know the rule that once you decide to bat you cannot change your decision.
After all the dust settled about the toss, Some excellent bowling performance
from Yatin and Chetan aw the tall NewWaves (13 men long) batting lineup
collapse and limp to a paltry 115 in 29.1 overs aided by 17+ extras. Tirumal,
Madhu, Satya and Mani bowled superbly to continue the NewWaves slide started by
Yatin and Chetan. Some poor Umpiring by Sai Amuluru at square leg ended Zia's
budding innings prematurely. Sai Amuluru vowed to continue from where Sanjay
left the duck Spree. However Sai agreed that its very difficult to break
Sanjays record of 7-DUCKS in a row. One more time Extras top scored for
NewWaves. Yatin consumed Uday's wicket
to round off a 5-wicket haul and finished with 5 for 11 in 5.1 overs. TS
captain Kuljit said, he is afraid that boys may not get to bat every week if
this continues. He only hopes that NWs will at least put up a challenging total
next time so that everyone in the team get to bat. TS achieved their target in
only 18.1 overs (half of the scheduled).
NewWaves know that its hard to defend a total of 115 in 35 overs with 12
men to bat. Kuldeep opened the bowling for NewWaves. However he did not get any
support from Manish who shared the new ball with him as he went for two
fours in his very first over. Manish was immediately taken out of the attack
and Rajesh was brought in, who provided the much needed support to Kuldeep.
Rajesh plunged in action by removing 3 wickets for the last three balls in his
very first over. He missed the hattrick narrowly as he bowled a wide in the
middle. However he came back Strongly in his second over to complete the
hattrick and take the well deserved honours for the best bowler. Rajesh
finished with 5 for 20 in 5 overs. Kuldeep came up with his career best bowling
figures of 2 for 11 in 5 overs. At one time NWs looked in control and looked
like they were going to bowl TS out. But, Kuldeep and Rajesh did not get any
support from the rest of NW bowlers, as Yatin who came after the fall of Vishwa’s
wicket thrashed the NWs bowling into pieces. He went on to make the first
half-century of the season, which was relished by TrendSetters as there was no
such mark for long time from either side. Yatin finished 50 notout. Manish,
Uday, and Zia all went for 8.5, 9.0, 12.0 per over respectively. Except Kuldeep
and Rajesh none of the NW bowlers got any wickets. With such a low total to
defend Kuldeep said, he did not get a chance to use the services Baddam Harish
and Kishore Thota. Towards the end as NW loss was evident, Harish Vajja wanted
to try his hand. He kept pestering the NW captain. Meanwhile Sanjay snatched
the ball from Kuldeep and went to bowl. He marked his runup and took off to
bowl, before the whole team pulled him off. Harish Baddam expressed his
disappointment that he did not get bowl. Kishore also hoped that he gets to
bowl in the next week's game. After the match, Kuldeep said that the team wants
to put this behind and start preparing for the next week's game. This week Sai
Amuluru was removed from writing scorecards as he erred too many times. When
approached he said, he is having tough time concentrating on score cards, as he
does not have enough time to continue making fuss at the ground. This week
because of the disruptions, the game was started at 1:40pm. Both captains vowed
to start the game at 1pm next week.
