Best Fielder:      Manivannan Gnanavelu

TrendSetters have yet again won the match at FFCC grounds with their outstanding team effort and some masterly bowling by their Strike bowler Yatin, who claimed 5 wickets in all to include a hat-trick and a haul of 4 wickets in one over. It was a superb spell with great out-swingers.

Earlier, upon reviewing the pitch, TS captain Kuljit felt that the pitch would offer some turn later on during the day and given the current form of TS bowlers, was hoping to bowl second and luckily for TS, Kuljit won the toss again and elected to bat. NW captain Kuldeep and his team played some enthusiastic cricket keeping a steady line, Kuldeep bowled exceptional line on this day and provided much needed earlier breakthroughs for Nws. Strike batsman Shoban was bowled in the first over, bad luck to Shoban, the ball kept quite low. He had a poor run with the bat lately, and was hoping to regain his form, He will have to try harder next time. TrendSetters took a steady and sensible start, the batsmen not taking risks. They were mainly resorting to scoring singles and twos with the clean intentions of building the innings, which they did. The introduction of medium pacer Uday J Poosarla however, brought a check on TrendSetter's score. Uday was the most successful bowler for NewWaves with 4 wickets for 24 runs. TS kept losing wickets at regular intervals, but the in-form Chetan closed one-end giving no chance to NW bowlers, although, he didn’t connect very well in the beginning, He came back good to add valuable score to TS innings. He hit 48, lasted till the end of the innings, before getting bowled by Zia in the last over. With Chetan sealing one end, other TS batsmen contributed well to putup a decent score of 164 in 30 overs, it was a total team effort that worked for TS. Intended overs were 35, but play was disrupted for over 45 minutes, due to a conflict in reserving grounds with the little league baseball team. Pitch was later moved to a different location in the same huge ground, and play continued.

NW had a shaky start with Harish Baddam and Manish with Manish getting bowled by Naren in the very first over. Sanjay joined Baddam at the fall of Manish; Baddam played some good shots, but couldn’t stay longer. Tragedy struck NewWaves when Harish Baddam snicked a ball from Yatin Bhuta in the hands of the wicket keeper for an invaluable score of 13. This was the shot, which Baddam perhaps never intended to play. Yatin bowled exceptionally well today giving no chance to NW. Yatin claimed 4 wickets in his second over, to include a hat-trick. Baddam knicked an out-swinger from Yatin, Mani in the fist slip position took a superb catch diving low to his right, his control was exceptional. NW captain Kuldeep continued his poor-form with the bat, edging the fist ball he faced to an out-swinger from Yatin, Mani again took the catch. Satheesh then joined Sanjay, no one knew why he moved away from the wicket (perhaps to distract Yatin from getting a hat-trick), fortunately for Yatin, Satheesh edged to the ball going down the leg side and Wicket-Keeper Praveen took a brilliant catch diving to his left, he first fumbled to keep his control and the ball, but later grabbed it. TS team and Yatin went ecstatic with his hat-trick. Kuljit couldn’t be happier with his team’s performance. Experienced Uday and Sanjay tried to revive the innings, with careful execution. TS Captain, then made a bowling change, bought in spin-duo Satya and Shoban. Later, Naren and Satya had to leave the fields without completing their quota of overs.

After this it was splendid show of batting by Uday J and Sanjay Singhvi. Timely bowling change saw Uday struggling to connect the ball.  Mani got the break for Trendsetters by removing Uday.  Just as Zia was well set, the rate of scoring started rising. The batsmen were not missing any singles and also hitting odd boundaries. Zia was playing with immense confidence and unprecedented sense of responsibility. All hopes now rested on Zia who was holding the fort with a defiant 34. Their joy, however, did not last long. TrendSetters got the lucky break when Zia was beautifully caught by Mani off Kuljit for a well-scored 34 runs. Rajesh having been joined by Sanjay, all the hopes of Newwave's survival now rested on them.  In the very next over Rajesh was caught by Skipper Kuljit at point off Chetan Jaitly.  Sanjay Singhvi played only a couple of balls, before Vishwa pulled off a fine diving catch at midwicket to give Kuljit his second wicket.

Harish Vajja at end tried to win for NewWaves by hitting valuable 11, but was clean bowled by Chetan Jaitly.

After the match, Chetan Jaitly and Yatin Bhuta were named Men of the Match for his bowling. Yatin said: "Everything went OK: I kept bowling and kept getting wickets. Everything is going my way right now."

Kuljit expressed tremendous satisfaction over his team’s performance today. He said, we missed our bowler Naren and Satya towards later part of the innings, but we came good. I am a big fan of Yatin, the Man’s got control, dedication, I always knew, He would win matches for us. Not to take Chetan from the limelight, we knew, He is always there for us. This is a team win, I am proud of TS. We play this way and we can sweep the whole 2002 series.

NW captain Kuldeep expressed unhappiness over his team’s performance today. There is a consolation though, Uday is getting his form back with both bat and bowl (grabbed 4 wickets today), Zia is getting his rhythm back, NW can look forward to a good fight from next game on. He said, ‘I would like for our team to put this aside, and practice for the forth coming match’. He expressed concern over Manish’s deteriorating form with the bat and bowl, He said ‘Manish is a class player, He knows he needs to perform, I am sure, he will come good’. He said, we are also missing services of Kishore, Yerram, Sumeet & Prasad Sala. He praised Yatin’s bowling, He said ‘He is a tough one to bat to, He is just a class bowler, he deserves this hat-trick’. When asked about any team changes for the upcoming match, He said ‘Kishore would be back from School, hope to see Anil Yerram and Sumeet’, but the final team will be announced just a day before the match.
