It was a beautiful day with lush green outfield, not enough sun, yet not too cloudy. Absolutely wonderful weather for Cricket. Unfortunately, both the teams couldn’t present their full-strength. A lot of players signed up to play with the Yorkshire Club (TI picnic/tournament), and hence a shortage of players for this game. Finally, Trendsetters fielded 10 players while Newwaves fielded 7 players.

Pitch was wet with morning dew, and has a lot of turn in it. TrendSetters won the toss as usual, choose to bat. Captain Kuljit and KP opened the innings for TS; Kuljit was in fine form played some wonderful shots. KP was playing steady but was run out for a fine throw from Kuldeep. Kuljit continued to play shots, while the rest of TS gave him steady stand. All the TS players did their part, playing the ball on merit and have maintained a steady run rate of 5 runs per over. Kishore from NWs bowled very well on this pitch. TS accelarated their scoring rate in the final overs, Tirumala hit a four, six, and a four in one over of Harish Baddam NewWaves “VARIETY” bowler, which helped push the score to 150 plus at the end of 29th over.

A score of 160 was very difficult to achieve on this kind of pitch, and also with limited strength of NWs. Kuljit knew, if he could get in-form Baddam, Zia and Uday, the game is over. TS’s bowlers strayed in the beginning, gave away wides, over-throws etc., but came back good later on and stuck to the task. Satya bowled very well, with his wristy spin, claimed important wickets of Baddam &  Zia.  None of the NWs batsmen stayed to take control, finally lost the match by 102 runs.

Captain Kuldeep expressed dissatisfaction over this loss, but said ‘we haven’t fielded our full-strengh, the series is not over yet, mark my words, we will bounce back with vengeance’.  TSs captain Kuljit was very pleased with his team’s performance with the bat and bowl. However, he criticized poor fielding of his team and emphasized that catches win matches. He planned on having a word with his team on improving their catching and fielding.
