Match1

Saturday was yet another beautiful day with lush green outfield. Thanks to all the players that showed up on time, game started at 7:20AM, looking forward to seeing the same punctuality for the future games.

Coming to the pitch, it was beautiful with some morning dew offering pace and bounce to the quickies. We have seen the debut of three new players Prashanth, Dhananjay & Rajendar-Singh Bal who displayed excellent character and played extremely well. Kuljit Singh of TS won the toss yet again and elected to bat, new debutante Prashanth opened the innings along with Satya. NWs bowlers Zia and Srini opened the bowling for NWs. Zia stuck to the task, bowled beautifully making use of the pitch conditions, but couldn’t get a breakthrough in his first spell. Srini however, got the break for NWs by getting Satya out with a simple catch to Chanduru, he played across the line a little too much this morning. Then came Naren, along with Prashanth, they put up a decent partnership. Both rotated strike very well and Prashanth fired up hit some beautiful boundaries. When things looked set for a big total by TS, Naren made a bad call and was run out. Chandru returned an excellent throw to the wicket keeper, and Naren was well short of crease. TS lost the rhythm. That is what the NWs wanted; this was the right time for NWs to bring in a bowling change. Debutante Dhananjay and now veteran Kishore bowled well, with Dhananjay getting the most wickets of the innings. NWs finally restricted TS by bowling them out for paltry 98 in 20 overs. TS bowlers had the task cut out, bowl straight to the wicket and get as many early wickets as possible. Opening bowlers Badri and Naren bowled superbly, swinging the balls away from the right-handers. Badri got the early breakthrough in his very first over. Srini (0) bowled as he drove across the line of a blistering inswinger; Rajinder Singh Bal (0) magnetically drawn into following a off cutter by Badri in his last ball of the first over and edging to the wicketkeeper a very low catch superbly taken by Kuljit-Singh. From the other end the Medium pace bowler Naren got his first wicket in his second over, getting Kishore caught behind by Kuljit. Again Badri broke the stumps of Dhananjay and NewWaves Captain Kuldeep in his fourth over, and that put the whole game in balance with the in-form Zia still batting. Then came a bowling change with Madhu continuing with Badri, troubled the batsmen through out. NWs didn’t look very good, Naren came back and stuck again, bowled Chandru with an yorker, rest of the TSs cleaned up the tail of NWs. Rajendra was one batsmen, offered some resistance, but couldn’t save his team from losing by 29 runs.

Kuljit was extremely happy with his bowlers. He however, felt that the batting needs some more discipline; there is a need to put up a decent total for his bowlers to bowl to. Kuljit expressed great satisfaction with Prashanth’s batting, He said ‘Prashanth displayed a great character, we look forward to good contributions from him in our future games, He also felt that NWs has become stronger with Dhananjay’s inclusion. Kuldeep however, was disappointed with his team’s batting.
