TrendSetters celebrate 4th of July in style with another beautiful victory over NewWaves by 44 runs.
Earlier TrendSetters won the toss, elected to bat, and had a studded innings with boundaries and sixes, pitch had nothing to offer for the bowlers. NewWaves struggled to get wickets, Yatin and Kuljit started the innings for TrendSetters, maintained a runrate of over 6 runs, boundaries started flowing freely. The first change of bowling bought Kishore in who definitely was the pick of the bowling on this day. He bowled tremendous line in this lifeless pitch, pulled Yatin forward to play the shot, only to edge to the outswinger to Zia (Wicket Keeper) and soon after got Kuljit. Dubutante Rajesh didn’t last long, He was bowled by Uday P. Trendsetters needed another good partnership to keep the runrate going, Shoban and KP provided just that. Both played an aggressive innings studded with fours and sixes. Zia came back for his second spell, bowled very well to get Shoban and KP, but it was a bit late to contain the innings. Shoban made 37 and KP made a well deserving 57. Trendsetters made a fine 184 with 2 wickets remaining in the allotted 30 overs.
Though the task was a bit high without start player Sumeet, it was achievable given the pitch conditions. Kuldeep and Baddam started the innings, found good rhythm, scored freely maintaining the runrate to win this game. However, the much-needed long partnerships didn’t exist. Baddam made 18 and Kuldeep made 11. Zia batted very well, held up one end, played wonderful shots, but he needed a good partner to stay at the other end. NewWaves looked forward to their senior player Uday, but his mis-form worried NWs even further. TS having put up a good score to defend, bowled a good line to contain the batsmen. Badri bowled well for TS, with good support from Naren. NW lost wickets at regular intervals. The much needed prize wickets of Uday and Zia went to Naren. NewWaves folded up 44 runs short with 4.1 overs to spare. KP was adjudged man of the match for his outstanding batting and Badri D was the best bowler for picking up 3 wickets.
