Cricket Report – 07.06.02

Trendsetters win again at the post 4th of July game this past Saturday, though started to seem like a low scoring match, but ended up very exciting. TrendSetters won the toss and elected to bat. Pitch was dry and the grass was brown, yet was offering some uneven bounce and swing to the bowlers. TrendSetters started cautiously, NewWaves stuck to a good line, giving no width to the batsmen. NWs restricted TS to 61 in the first 15 overs, infact TS were 93 in 23 overs. But some last minute firing by Yatin, Inder, and KP along with a lot of extras in the form of Wides given away by NWs, helped put up a decent score of 154 in the allotted 30 overs.

NewWaves started with the in-form Sumeet playing his usual self along with Rajinder Singh Bal, were cruising along well. The first bowling change that bought in Naren, made the difference for TS. Naren got two back to back wickets of Gagan and Rajesh, was on a hat-trick but couldn’t finish it off. Badri on the other hand stuck in his second spell getting a wicket every over. His victims were , Rajinder Singh, Kuldeep,  and the star batsman. Sumeet.  Another bowling change bought in Yatin along side of Badri, Yatin bowled superb length contained Sumeet to a rather defensive approach, Sumeet finally lost his patience and hit a full-toss of Badri just short of mid-off, but Shoban who was almost under the ball, first misjudged it, but finally held it close to the ground, that put an end to Sumeet’s innings and also pretty much the game for Kuldeep. New debutante Talpa Sai, played with a lot of patience, tried to rebuild the innings for NWs, but couldn’t succeed. Last hopes of NWs were vanished when Kishore got out to a wonderful delivery from Yatin. Debutante Mahesh took a wonderful catch in the deep covers region. NWs finally lost the match by 66 runs. Yatin with his fine display with batting and bowling earned the man of the match award.
