CriCKET Report for the match played on November 16th 2002                30 over game

Recovering from the most humiliating loss of the season in the previous match to Trend Setters, there was a calm resolve in the face of New waves players. The stage was set to an exciting day of action packed cricket.

New waves openers, Giri & Uday held their wicket to a very good tight spell from Trend Setters strike bowlers, Yatin & rajesh. First five overs yielded a couple of boundaries from all-rounder, Uday. A batting change bought in Shoban to the wicket to boost the run-rate, but Baddam, the un-conventional vocal bowler had other plans. His bowling spell in one over yielded shoban’s wicket, and the very next bowl had Madhu’s wicket. With Baddam on a hat-trick, Ravicharan came into the crease for his first ODI debut at FFFC. Baddam straighter delivery did the trick. Not the best of memories for Ravi, but a moment to rejoice for Baddam, his first hatrick at FFFC !!

Rest of the New Waves bastmen settled for a single digit score did not contribute much to the total of 93. Uday topped the innings with a knock of 28, and Raghu completed a good bowling spell with three wickets.  The target was set at 94.

Trend Setters openers Sumeet, and raghu were never allowed to settle down. First wicket in the second innings came via Madhu’s bowling, had raghu committing to a stroke, which resulted in a good reflex catch by Sai. Madhu’s excellent bowling spell resulted in quick fall of Mani & Piyush’s wicket. Kuldeep, New waves captain introduced spin attack with his strike bowler, Sai . A good strategy in hindsight.  An excellent work behind the stumps from Uday resulted in Baddam getting stumped. Sai once again proved that when called upon in need, he can deliver the goods. Sai also had Summet’s wicket with a good tight spell. With wickets falling in regular intervals, trend setters were in deep trouble, when Niraj walked into the crease. Niraj played a very responsible & stable knock of 23, despite the fact that he was running out of partners on the other end.  Chetan delivered the final blow by claiming niraj’s wicket. Chetan earned a milestone in FFFC by completing his 50th wicket, and sealing victory for new waves by 19 runs.

Deservingly, madhu was awarded the man of the match for an excellent bowling spell, and good piece work in the field.
