Sanjay Singhvi hero of NewWaves win.

Sanjay Singhvi - 26 Aug 2001  (Scorecard)

Pre-match gossip had centered on TrendSetters's growing confidence against New Waves's Player after their triumph in Last Sunday’s match, but such idle talk looked foolish in the extreme after the beguiling Batsman and Bowler (Sanjay and Prasad ) wreaked havoc on the Sunday’s Match Played at Frankford Field Cricket Club..

When the TrendSetters  players tucked in the early morning they looked to be facing the prospect of a mammoth heavy score by New Waves. Kuljit Singh made New Waves batted first having won the toss and the New Waves openers had stridden confidently to the first Wicket Partnership. Every one batted well as everyone was enjoying the game.  Opener Uday and Mansoor batted well in the initial early overs. After the loss of first wicket Sai came to the crease. He was looking confident and he stuck Satish to a  beautiful cover drive for 4. It was one of the best shot of the day and he got out for 6 but I have sent a signal to the Opposition of how aggressive he is. After that Harish came to bat. He was tearing apart Trendsetters bowling. Raghu came with a Napkin to wipe of the tears coming from the Bat. After the loss of his Wicket Sanjay came to bat. Sanjay, displaying astonishing enthusiasm and stamina batted unchanged from the time he was tossed the ball. In his inning of 30 he stuck 5 fine fours. He made the fielders run all over the place.

Later in the Innings New Waves Player Prasad had turned the match on its head after a mesmerising spell of offensive bowling, in which he grabbed two crucial wickets. New Waves made 137 of 29.2 overs on a pitch that was as dry as the up country reservoirs and distinctly lacking in any of the "pace and bounce" promised by the curator. Nevertheless,

the pitch was essentially a good batting track.

TrandSetters knew that 137 was a difficult target to chase against the likes of New Waves Bowler. They started on the Positive note but New Waves bowler stuck them at regular

intervals. New Waves started celebrating after they got the Wicket of Vinod by a marvelous catch taken by Zia. It was the Turning point of the Match. Even though Kuljit Singh Scored 7 (24-17) but he had bowl pretty expensive overs. He was wandering here and there on the grounds seeking advice from the so called other captains as to what to do b’cos Mohammed their one and only Vice Captain was also off the field today. Rumors were raised as Mohammed has asked for a higher fee to play for TrendSetters. On the other hand Kuldeep Singh did a good job on the field. He changed the bowling by bringing in Prasad at the crucial moment and the rest everyone Knows. Trendsetters needed I guess another 40 runs with one wicket in hand. Chetan was playing confidently after he stuck 2 boundaries but then he couldn’t stay for longer and a fine catch taken by Sanjay. Clearly it was Sanjay’s Day and at the end of the Match he was given a Standing Ovation by the players of both the Teams.

Kuljit Singh ( One of the Captain ), relieved and elated in equal measure, was fulsome in his praise of Sanjay Singhvi: "The pitch didn't hold any demons, which makes his performance today even more incredible. The way he kept his control and concentration was amazing. He beat the Bowler in the air and off the pitch he is an out and out

champion."

There has been Rumors that Kuljit singh needs some training on how to manage the Team and he has sought the advice of New Waves’s captain Kuldeep Singh. The time has not been decided yet but I guess Kuljit singh will be requesting all the Captains to attend the meeting and learn some insight of managing the TEAM. It was heard that Kuljit Singh went straight to Kuldeep’s singh Apartment on Tuesday for his first Session. He even has ordered a book from the Internet title “ How to Manage a Team full of Captains” . I don’t know how many captains were used by TrendSetters team for this Match. The reason cited for Mohamed unavailability was also that he was still waiting at the DFW Airport as Benjamin’s flight was delayed.

New Waves, though, would be wise to be wary. They have squandered advantageous  positions with alarming frequency in recent times.

AFter the Match was over Sai Started saying the Slogan " New Waves Zindabad" and even Kuljit SIngh Joined him
